What’s the most important document in the world? Some adults might say The Constitution of these United States of America. After all, it tells us how our American government is supposed to work. Others might say it’s the Bylaws of some organization, perhaps a hospital or a railroad or some business or this school. But that’s not the right answer. The right answer is: The Holy Bible.

Why is it so important? God has given it to us to teach us how to get to eternal life. It tells us how God wants us to live. It also tells us we can’t live that way. It tells us we are sinners and we can’t escape our sins. We can’t stop sinning on our own. We deserve a far more severe punishment for them than our parents have ever punished us. We deserve eternal death for our sins.

What’s the answer? The Bible tells us that too. Jesus is the answer! He died for our sins. He was punished for them all. He suffered eternal death, hell itself, as He hung on The Cross. He won eternal life for you. He rose from the dead; that’s Him telling you you will live forever with Him in a place far better than this one – a perfect, wonderful place far better than you can ever dream.

This is what The Scriptures tell us. That’s what every Christian preacher should preach. I need to preach exactly what God’s Word says. I better not stray from it. Jesus Himself preached The Old Testament Scriptures and did not stray from them. So I need to do the same with the whole Bible both Old and New Testaments. Your teachers here at Redeemer Lutheran School need to do the same. That’s what God wants. God loves it when we teach and preach exactly what His Word says, nothing less, nothing more.
