“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of The Word.” These words from St. Peter which began today’s Liturgy don’t make sense to us at first. Who are the newborn babes? Many of us have been Christians for years! Why does The Liturgy begin with those words today, a Sunday after Easter? . . .

The disciples were surprised. Jews didn’t have anything to do with Samaritans. It wasn’t because their blood wasn’t the same as theirs. It’s because their religion wasn’t quite the same. They just used the 5 books of Moses, and they’d edited those too! To make it worse, they claimed they were supposed to worship somewhere other than Jerusalem. . . .

We’ve been talking a lot about sheep these past 2 months. The focus is always Jesus. He is The Lamb of God that bore the sins of the world. But on Preschool – or Little Lambs – Sunday, we got a preview of what we hear today. The Lamb of God is The Good Shepherd of His sheep. . . .
