PRESCHOOL 3’S
Through positive experiences we strive to help the three year-old understand and care about the people in his/her world. We learn the value of family, church, community helpers, health, safety habits, and good manners. We invite visitors into the classroom to tell about their work in the community. We also stress and talk about feelings and emotions, taking turns, growth, holidays, and sharing.

PRESCHOOL 4’S

We also stress and talk about feelings and emotions, taking turns, growth, holidays, and sharing.

ENRICHMENT
Children will be introduced to the world around them. Encouragement to widen their view of the world from "me" to family, friends and community will be a priority. Being a servant of Christ and helping others will also be encouraged. Children will be introduced to holidays and customs throughout the year. Simple history of our nation, our flag, and our leaders, past and present will be introduced.  At least one foreign country will be introduced, with emphasis on the country’s food, people, customs, language and religion. 

KINDERGARTEN & FIRST
Kindergartners and First graders will be introduced to the social studies curriculum on a two year schedule.  Five units of social studies will be introduced throughout each school year.  Whole group lessons, enhanced by small group activities, enrichment videos, and independent center activities serve to reinforce the units of study.  Social studies strands including, history, geography, civics, economics and world cultures, are incorporated into the units.  Home projects help to reinforce new material and bring concepts to life.  Holidays and customs are also introduced throughout the year.

SECOND  & THIRD
Second & Third Grade Social Studies examines the state of Pennsylvania. Each child will know facts about Pennsylvania; such as the Capital, state bird, state animal, state, and nickname. The government of Pennsylvania will be studied (which includes knowing a little bit about the Governor and state representatives). We will explore the land of Pennsylvania- the rivers, mountains, and farmlands. The cities of Gettysburg, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia will also be included in the study of our state.

FOURTH & FIFTH
The Fourth & Fifth grade social studies curriculum helps students understand basic geographical concepts of the earth and the United States. Students will practice map skills. They will explore the geography and history of the forest, desert, plains and mountain regions of the United States. They will also explore the geography and history of the New England, Middle-Atlantic, Southeast, North and South Central, Mountain West, and Pacific States.

SIXTH
In Sixth grade social studies, our students will be studying the Eastern Hemisphere. Units of study will include: map skills, ancient civilizations, the history and development of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Areas of emphasis will include various historical empires and how nations and their people have changed and developed with the discovery of more and more technological advances.

SEVENTH & EIGHTH
In the Seventh through Eighth grade social studies, our students will be studying the Eastern Hemisphere. Units of study will include: map skills, ancient civilizations, the history and development of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Areas of emphasis will include various historical empires and how nations and their people have changed and developed with the discovery of more and more technological advances.
